Counter-Strafing
What is counter-strafing?
Counter-strafing is about stopping as fast as you can when peeking a corner. This makes your shots accurate, while you are being a difficult target to hit.
How to Counter-Strafe
There are several things to think about when counter-strafing, and it requires training and time to master. Here is a simple guide:
- When moving, depending on what weapon you are using, you have a velocity. For example with an AK-47, you have a velocity of 215 u/s (units per second).
- To be accurate with your shots, your velocity has to be at 0 u/s.
- To achieve 0 u/s as fast as possible, you have to move in the opposite direction just before you shoot.
- For example if you are walking right with your D-key and peeking a corner, you have to tap your A-key which makes your velocity decrease faster to 0 u/s, meaning you are standing still.
- If you want to practice this, you can start any server
inside Counter-Strike, and insert this command into your
in-game console:
cl_showpos 1
- This command will display your velocity in the top left corner, and you can experiment with it yourself.
